Cyrene: an evocative, retro-styled sans for the ages!

Cyrene, by Riccardo Agostinelli (if you ask me, that’s one too many ‘c’s in your first name, Ric) is a marvel you don’t come across very often.

A gorgeous, considered font with a license that allows you to use it in both personal and commercial projects and which is completely free? Hells yeah. Where do I sign up?

Nowhere, that’s where! Riccardo doesn’t even ask for your email address to let you download the font.

You may be wondering “what’s so nice about it?” to which I can only answer with this

With its humanistic tendencies, amplified by the quirky curves and small but visible differences in stroke width, you can use this font virtually anywhere. While not exactly a Didonesque, this typeface is a perfect fit for haute couture projects and I can also definitely see it being used on book covers, posters and packaging designs.

Cyrene comes in only one weight and style but it’s not a font you want to miss,
