BULEVAR by atipo foundry review: Brutalism via art deco, or, can I get even more pretentious?

I wasn’t going to write a post today.

I had just come home from work, exhausted but also excited about putting the kids to bed and chillin’ like it’s Vanilla Ice Age when atipo foundry went ahead and released a new font. Thanks, atipo.

It’s well-known around these parts that when atipo releases a new typeface, I review. I review hard. And this time, it’ll be no exception.

Coming hot on the heels of yesterday’s Heliuk review, this is another supremely-condensed, imposing sans typeface that’s perfect for signage and poster design. It comes in two styles, Regular and (fittingly) Poster, and you may be wondering “what’s the difference?”, to which I’ll answer with a thousand words, ie. a charming diagram I made for your eyes only (fig. 1)

(fig. 1) The things I do for my readers

Simply put, the poster version is more poster-y, that is to say, it’s more condensed and bolder, which makes the counters almost disappear.

You're welcome, by the way!

On a scale of “I don’t want to have sex with it.” to “I want to have sex with it.” I give it a “I want to have sex with it.”

You can purchase Bulevar HERE for $10+. This is not an affiliate link, and buying it through it means I won’t get my fair share of a few cents. What the hell, dude?
