Four typography-related newsletters you should subscribe to.

With the amount and quality of free and commercially-available fonts around today, it’s a bit hard to stay updated on interesting new typefaces, sites and techniques.

Luckily, the resources to help you plentiful and are easily accessible to you in the form of newsletters. However, not all newsletters are created equal, so here are my favorites, including a self-plug that’s as blatant as the hair plugs on Wayne Rooney’s head.

#1 The Weekly Typographic

All I can say is ‘oopsie’. When I decided to call my blog The Daily Typographic, I’d totally forgotten that The League of Movable Type’s newsletter (which I’d been receiving for a couple of years by that point) is called The Weekly Typographic.

The League also offers a paid community membership, with even more news, font recommendations and job postings which, at the time of writing, costs less than an hour-long foot massage in Bali.

Oh, you don’t know how much that costs? Peasant. That’s five bucks. Bargain.

#2 Typewolf Tuesday

I know that Typewolf Tuesday sounds like a surreal 80s sex comedy but trust me—even though it should be, it isn’t.

Instead, it’s Typewolf’s weekly newsletter and it’s an essential one. You get new font recommendations, suggestions for sites that use type in a creative and innovative way and you even get offers. Cool stuff.

Typewolf didn’t have a hero image, so I made one for them. There’s a wolf on it. You’re welcome.

#3 MyFonts newsletter

MyFonts.com sends a newsletter that’s half font promotion, half type commentary. I don’t mind the promotional aspect, since it’s one of my ways of learning about new fonts and their commentaty/tips section is usually very informative, especially on the days you get the FY{T}i version, which is their type manual newsletter.

#4 The Daily Typographic biweekly newsletter

Hey! That’s my newsletter. Unlike the rest of the newsletters on this list, I don’t send out a weekly newsletter. Instead, I create and send a digest-style bulletin with the best posts and tips from the blog.

Signing up for our newsletter also means that you enter our weekly font giveaway, Free Font Tuesday, in which one lucky git gets a commercial font for free.
