The beginnings of a brand identity: Gallos typeface

You know that typeface you’ve bookmarked at your favorite font vendor? The one that you know you don’t really need but are constantly looking for any excuse to add to your collection?

For the past month or so, Gallos has been my don’t-really-need-it-but-I-should-really-get-it font. I know I keep using the word gorgeous but what else can you conceivably call this typeface? A strange, slightly alien brew of a geometric sans and the long-forgotten Uncials scripts, featuring the shyest ascenders and descenders you’ve ever seen, I don’t think that you’ve ever laid eyes on such a bizarre beauty before.

So, how did I end up buying it?

It’s simple: I needed a typeface for my author logotype and for general branding purposes for my self-publishing business. Gallos’s striking and slightly otherworldly esthetic is a perfect match for my brand of surrealist comedy sci-fi.

Clearly, this is rudimentary stuff and I intend to embellish the whole thing a bit, but the first step has been taken: Gallos will be my font of choice for branding my self-publishing empire.

What’s that? You want to see my site? Tough luck; I still haven’t done anything with it. It’s just a default Wordpress template crying alone in a corner. What a pussy.

You can get Gallos HERE.
