The Book Covers Project: Introduction

Any regular visitors to this site will probably be thinking “What the hell is the Book Covers Project? Where is my daily font review or totally insane rant about turnips?”

I get it. That’s how it usually goes. That’s the status quo around here.

But for a couple of weeks we’ll be doing something different.

Don’t worry: things are bound to get back to normal pretty soon. But I suggest that you stick around for this feature, especially if you’re a fan of the design process or were ever into book cover design.

What

The Book Covers Project will be me designing book covers for three people. These are real books by (presumably) real people that I met on author forums and Facebook groups.

Why

Why not? The guys need the covers and I need something to post on this blog.

How

For each book, I will be sharing the book genre, concept and a summary of the plot on day 1. On the second day, I will be describing parts of the design process and, essentially, be thinking aloud for your benefit. On the third day, I will be unveiling the final book cover, along with any drafts that went nowhere.

Keep in mind that, due to a lot of things going on in my life right now, I won’t be spending hours working on these covers. Like my daily designs showcasing the font of the day, they will be quick designs (although not the 5-min designs I usually do).

When

The fun begins tomorrow, 13/10/20! See you then!
