Seriously impressed with this one: Wired, free & amazing
I know that I write about fonts daily, and you can rest assured that any and all fonts I review on this site have been selected for a reason, but sometimes, as was the case for my beloved Origamic, I come across a typeface that I develop special feelings for.
Wired by Marcelo Reis Melo is one of those fonts. An instantly eye-catching display monoline, this free (FREE? SERIOUSLY?) font screams retro-futurism, which is something I enjoy almost as much as souvlaki and foot massages.
There’s not much to be said about this typeface: it only comes in one weight and it has no need for such earthly nonsense like italics. This is one free font you need in your collection.
Here’s my customary 5-minute creation using Wired:
Honestly, I’d gladly pay for this, which makes me sad because I had the chance to do just that (it works on a pay-what-you-want model, but you can enter zero too) before downloading and I declined like an asshole. To make up for this injustice, I’ll go ahead and download (and this time, pay for) Marcelo’s beautiful and brilliantly-named Sans Jose. See? I’m not a total fuckboy after all.
