Pick of the Bundle: Zetafonts CocoGoose Classic, W Type Foundry Hermann & Latinotype Isidora
There used to be a time when I wouldn’t miss a Design Cuts font bundle. It’s still something that I’m actively looking for, although thanks to being literally flooded with typefaces to review, it’s a bit harder to consistently review them nowadays.
However, the one they are currently running is an amazing deal, and it contains some typefaces that you’d be a fool to miss. And while all of the fonts contained therein are professionally-made and worth a look, there are three that stand out from the pack.
This is their story.
Zetafonts CocoGoose Classic
The Daily Typographic? More like The Geometric Sans Graphic, amirite?
You know I love geometric sans serifs, and this one I love a lot. Eight weights of pure elegance with matching italics. Wash them down with a shot of robusta-enriched espresso and you’re good to go! Ligatures and stylistic alternates are a given.
Latinotype Isidora
What? Another geometric sans? Quelle surprise!
Isidora retains some humanist characteristics and what I like to call (but literally nobody else does) proto-serifs, which are not really serifs but calligraphic flourishes at the terminals of strokes, which tend to lend a typeface a more refined, handwritten look. In fact, some bold weights can look like slab serifs but without serifs.
Confused? Just check the font out for yourself. It’s gorgeous.
W Type Foundry Hermann
W Type Foundry are the designers of my newest Favorite Typeface Of All Time, Rosso. As if that wasn’t enough, they went and added this detail to the list of supported languages for Hermann:
Are you kidding me? Of course I’m going to feature your typeface, dude.
Hermann is a richly-detailed serif (that’s right!) with some of the most unique and classy discretionary ligatures I’ve ever laid eyes on. Their standard ligatures are nothing to scoff at, either. By the way, hard sell here, if you want to learn the difference between those two things and be entertained at the same time, pick up a copy of my typography magnum opus, Clothes For Language. It’s for a good cause, which is to say, to feed by insatiable appetite for stylish puzzle platformers on the Nintendo Switch.
Anyway.
You’ll rarely find a typeface that’s equally good in both text and display settings, but Hermann is clearly one of the good ones. I’d go check it out if I were you.
You can go check out each of those typefaces individually or you can just go ahead and get the entire bundle for a few more days HERE.
