Kalpazan: A seductive display sans with character
First things first: it’s nice to be back!
After putting the blog on hiatus for a month to finish my final novel in my first trilogy, it’s time to come back with a bang.
And, oh, what a bang Kalpazan is.
Let me be honest with you: I didn’t purchase Kalpazan. Instead, I went for a big font bundle over at MightyDeals (it was too good of a deal to pass up) which included Kalpazan. However, it immediately stood out.
Honestly, I don’t know what it is about this font that has me drooling, in a good way: is it the clean shape of the letterforms, which is somehow not sterile at all? Is it the clever ligatures? Or is it the five different weights, which no one would have any right to demand from a display font in this category?
It’s probably all of the above, and the fact that I’m super-pumped on my signature MegaMochaTron concoction, which can be made as follows:
Three teaspoons of the worst quality instant coffee you can get (I used Nescafe Classic)
Two teaspoons of Cadbury’s Drinking Chocolate
Two shots of espresso
(optional) Anti-arrhythmia drug of your choice
Here’s my five-minute design for the day, which is not really a five-minute design, since I also took ten minutes to create the ‘illustration’ of the headless woman. I’m taking an illustration course over at Domestika, you see, and I had to practice:
