KOSMOS by Alexey Atapin: sci-fi display sans for free!
Do you need your typeface to be really legible?
Do you need a flexible font that’s appropriate for almost any situation?
Do you fart uncontrollably two hours after eating a blueberry muffin?
You don’t have to answer that last one, but we both know you do. As for the other two questions, if the answer is “yes”, then you’ve come to the wrong place.
That’s because KOSMOS is neither very legible nor very flexible. It is, for all intents and purposes, a sci-fi typeface. That means that you can use it for covers of sci-fi books, posters for music festivals featuring washed-out EDM acts from the ninenties, and for the packaging of the phaser gun you’ll be selling to sketchy Garbloxarzians in the back alleys of KC-X32R like a total space badass. And that’s it.
KOSMOS is completely free for personal and commercial use. It comes in only one weight/style and it contains latin and cyrillic characters. It is beautiful, if you’re into this kind of thing (I am) and it’s waiting for you, dressed very comfortably, ripe for the taking. This sounded very weird, but I’m sticking with it.
