Novela by atipo foundry: this one's for the readers (and authors)

Did you know that, in addition to my design-oriented books (you can find both in the Store, thank you very much) I also write sci-fi and horror novels/novellas?

That's the reason why, even though I don't really cover body text typefaces a lot on this page, I'm always on the lookout for that elusive perfect serif typeface. A nice serif will add gravitas to any silly old paragraph, and most of the time my writing is in desperate need of that.

Novela looks great, with its smoothly-crafted medium-to-tall x-height and large, airy counters. It's a joy to read and, even better, to apply on text.

In addition to looking great, the typeface is — as are most of atipo's typefaces — absolutely feature-packed. It comes compete with well-crafted ligatures, lining and old-style figures and small caps. It's also not lacking in the weight and italics department.

Normally, a typeface of this quality would set you back hundreds of dollars but atipo, staying true to its time-honored pay-what-you-want model, will let you choose what you want to spend, as long as it's more than $15. And hey, you can share something about the font on social media and get one weight (regular) for free.

If you've been reading my articles for any time at all, you know that atipo is probably my favorite foundry of all time, and typefaces like this one make it obvious why that's the case.
